The Christmas markets in Denver are great places to experience the holidays and shop for unique, handmade gifts in Colorado.

If you are looking for things to do or places to shop in Denver during the holidays, why not visit a Christmas Market?

Christmas or holiday markets are a big deal in Europe, specially in Germany, where vendors set up stalls to sell goods and delicious food.

In Denver, there are currently several holiday markets that happen every year and several that pop up in local neighborhoods in and around Denver.

The Christmas markets around Denver start in November and go through Christmas. Most holiday markets are free to visit and have parking on location.

    Christmas Markets in Denver

    Denver Christkindl Market

Denver Christkindl Market downtown is a German Holiday market

The Denver Christkindl Market is by far the best Christmas market in Denver. It is presented by the German American Chamber of Commerce and is a mini version of the Christmas Markets you can find in Europe.

The wooden vendor “stalls” re-create the original Christmas Markets in Germany and remind me of an old mountain village. The decorations and lights make the place feel like Christmas.

Items for sale include Christmas ornaments, pottery, clothes, and crafts. There is a mix of handmade and commercially made products.

There are live performances of German music and dancing and of course German food and lots of beer.

In the holiday tent, guests can enjoy their drinks and food in a beer garden atmosphere and stay warm during the chilly nights.

If you visit the Denver Christkindl Market, attend it after sunset so you get the full effect of the lights.

The market is located downtown which makes it easy to access with public transportation. Paid parking is available all around the venue and on Sundays, street parking is free.

    Horseshoe Holiday Market

    Horseshoe Christmas Market Entrance
Horseshoe Christmas Market Entrance- Look at that ceiling! There was also a bust of George Washington at the top of the stairs.

The Horseshoe Holiday market is held twice a year in the end of November and beginning of December. There is also a spring market.

This holiday market is held indoors at the Masonic Temple in Denver.

The vendors and products were varied. Besides flea market items, there were creative, handmade gifts for everyone in the family. Concentration of organic, natural based products seem to reflect the taste of residents of Colorado.

Food gifts are sold in the market and food trucks serve hungry shoppers outside during the event.

It is definitely worth a visit if you are shopping for that person in your life that is hip, loves handmade or vintage items.
